Frequently Asked Questions
Guardian Stars are properties assigned to every monster card in Forbidden Memories. Each monster has two Guardian Stars — for example, a card might have Mars and Sun. When you summon a monster, you choose which of its two stars to use for that battle.
There are 10 Guardian Stars in total: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon (the inner group), and Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (the outer group). Each star is strong against one other star and weak against another, creating two independent cycle relationships.
When a monster attacks, the game compares its active Guardian Star against the defender's star. If the attacker's star is strong against the defender's, the attacker gains +500 ATK and +500 DEF for that battle. If the attacker's star is weak against the defender's, the defender gets the +500 bonus instead.
This modifier applies to both ATK and DEF simultaneously, and is calculated per battle. The bonus can make the difference between a monster that would otherwise lose or tie, and one that wins the fight. The cap is 9999 ATK/DEF even with the bonus applied.
The 10 Guardian Stars are split into two independent cycle groups. Each star is strong against one specific star and weak against another, forming a closed loop:
Inner Group (Magic)
Sun → Moon → Venus → Mercury → Sun
- Sun is strong against Moon, weak to Mercury
- Mercury is strong against Sun, weak to Venus
- Venus is strong against Mercury, weak to Moon
- Moon is strong against Venus, weak to Sun
Outer Group (Element)
Mars → Jupiter → Saturn → Uranus → Pluto → Neptune → Mars
- Mars is strong against Jupiter, weak to Neptune
- Jupiter is strong against Saturn, weak to Mars
- Saturn is strong against Uranus, weak to Jupiter
- Uranus is strong against Pluto, weak to Saturn
- Neptune is strong against Mars, weak to Pluto
- Pluto is strong against Neptune, weak to Uranus
The diagram on this page shows both Guardian Star groups as circular charts with directional arrows. Each arrow points from a star to the star it is strong against, tracing the cycle relationship.
Hover over any Guardian Star icon to highlight its matchup: the star it is strong against turns green, and the star it is weak against turns red. All other stars fade to make the relationship clear. Click any star to browse all cards that share that Guardian Star alignment.
The quiz below the diagram tests your Guardian Star knowledge with real card matchups from the game. Each challenge shows your monster and the opponent's monster side by side, along with a mode indicator (attack or defense).
Your task is to click the correct Guardian Star (from your monster's two available stars) that would give you the advantage in that matchup. After you pick, the result is shown in green (correct) or red (incorrect). You can reshuffle for a new set of challenges at any time.
The quiz draws from a database of 182 real card matchups. Each session shows 12 random challenges so you can practice recognising the star relationships.
The AI always plays monsters using their primary Guardian Star — the first of the two stars assigned to that card. This behaviour is predictable, and experienced players and speedrunners exploit it: if you know which star the AI will use, you can choose a monster and Guardian Star that counters it.
